CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Brio

She was seething with rage.

And, honestly, it was refreshing.

I’d been expecting to see her upset and scared after having her first encounter with her brother-in-law.

When she’d opened the door for me—dressed in a fucking delivery uniform because I was worried about the cameras—I found a woman who had her good nature pushed just a little too far.

“Delivery for Ezmeray,” I said, opening the bag and showing her the jammer.

Her gaze slid to that, then to me, and she moved out of the way for me to enter.

Moving into the kitchen, I put the jammer on the counter right where I’d left the hands.

“Alright,” I said, turning to her. “We can talk now,” I told her.

“You’re sure?”

“This thing is good. If there was anything going on in here, it’s on the fritz right now. I will sweep later. You’re pissed.”

“Not at you,” she rushed to explain.

“I figured,” I agreed, giving her a smile. “What’s the matter? What happened?”

“Berat came by.”

“I saw him,” I agreed, nodding.

I’d kept my distance, but I made sure I had eyes on the building as much as possible.

I didn’t want there to be any chance she might be surprised by a mob of Eren’s men.

“Did you see that look on his face when he left?” she asked, voice tight.

“He looked… pleased,” I said, deciding to leave off that he looked like he just hit the jackpot.

“Yeah, because he thinks I’m an idiot. And that I will walk away from this,” she said, throwing an arm out at the apartment, but it was clear she didn’t mean the place, but the shit that had happened in it, “with nothing.”

“And that’s not what you want?” I asked. “Yesterday, seemed like you just wanted out. Period.”

“Yeah, well, that was yesterday,” she said, her lip almost trembling she was so angry. “Today? Today, I want to make them pay.”

“Speaking my language, babe,” I said, giving her a smirk that had some of the tension leaving her shoulders.

“I understand that you have your, you know, Family to consult with. But I was hoping you might be able to, you know, help me.”

Fuck.

She seemed so worried I was going to turn her down.

Like I could say no to her.

She didn’t understand that, though.

How could she? When I barely even understood it myself.

But, the fact of the matter was, if she asked it of me, I would charge right out of her apartment, grab Berat and the younger Polat brother, string them up, and peel off their skin inch by inch as they screamed for mercy.

“What do you want help with?” I asked, my hand running across the counter on my way toward the coffee machine, slipping in a pod then searching for a mug.

“I want to figure out how to see what percent owner Eren—and therefore me—is in the restaurants compared to Berat and Deniz.”

“I can figure that out,” I told her, turning back to find her standing there, arms crossed as she thought through her options.

“And then I want to find out how I can kick them out as owners.
